- Effective April 2, 2002 —- 2 new laws regarding prescription labels
(1) Prescription drug labels are not required to say "Caution: Federal
Law prohibits dispensing without a prescription" , now they need only say " Rx only".
(2) Labels may Remove the statement "Warning - may be habit forming" from certain narcotic prescriptions, side effects are
described in the package insert.

The UMDI was the world's first University-based Drug Information Service on the Internet. This service is supported by the hard
work of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy's faculty, staff, residents, and students who all support the belief that the
Internet was meant to be free. The site provides to consumers such information as adverse drug reaction consultations
and guidelines for medication use. Submit your questions on-line, and the UMDI will answer each question on an individual basis,
usually within 3 business days, many within hours.
